Taj Quilon Restaurant is a restaurant situated in Buckingham Gate, London. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ] The restaurant was opened in 1999 and owned by Taj hotels. [ 4 ] [ 5 ] It is the first South Indian restaurant in the world to win a Michelin star, which it has retained since 2008.
Opened in the mid-1990s as private members club Monte’s, the kitchen was operated by a series of star chefs including multi-Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse, and in 2000 Jamie Oliver was appointed as chef-consultant, overseeing head chef Ben O’Donoghue.
The restaurant opened in June 1990, and seats 100 guests with a private dining room on the first floor, seating up to 60 guests. Mobile phones and cameras are forbidden throughout the restaurant and adjoining club and there is a dress code requiring smart casual attire. [7]
