University of Ibadan gate. The University of Ibadan (UI) is a public university located in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Initially founded as University College Ibadan in 1948, it maintained its affiliation with the University of London. In 1962, it became an independent institution, making it the oldest degree-awarding university in Nigeria.

The School of Business [21] is one of eight schools at Monash University Malaysia which was the first foreign university campus in Malaysia. Home to over 8,400 students from 78 different countries, Monash University Malaysia has established strong links with industry and government. [citation needed]

The university had its first and Second Combined Convocation Ceremony in December, 2022. The event was graced by the 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party Nigeria, Mr Peter Obi who is also the Pro-Chancellor of the university. Governor Seyi Makinde, the Ooni of Ife and the Olubadan of Ibadan were in attendance at the ceremony. [12] [13]
The university was "approved for immediate take-off" by the Board of NUC in December 2003 and was ratified by the Federal Executive Council on February 16, 2005. The University was founded as City University, Ibadan. However, this name led to confusion and mistaken identity due to the existence of other universities with similar names.
