The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) is a private hospital in Karachi, Pakistan. Established in 1985, it is the primary teaching hospital of the Aga Khan University's (AKU) Faculty of Health Sciences. The hospital provides secondary and tertiary care, including diagnosis of disease and team management of patient care.
It was established in 2005 when Islamic Mission Trust donated its non-functional hospital in Korangi, Karachi to Indus Hospital and Health Network. [2] Islamic Mission Trust Hospital was originally established in 1988. [3] When it started, it was Pakistan's first paperless and cashless hospital; the hospital has an e-cardiology system. [4]
In 1949, it was renamed Jinnah Central Hospital in honor of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. [6] In 1952, Dow Medical College was attached with the Jinnah Central Hospital.
