The Yamaha XMAX is a series of maxi-scooters manufactured by Yamaha Motor Company since 2006. [1] It is available in four engines (the 125, 250, 300 and the 400 cm3), and is enjoying strong commercial success in Europe. It belongs to the GT category because of its lines, its sportiness and its comfort. [2]

The first bike manufactured by Yamaha was actually a copy of the German DKW RT 125; it had an air-cooled, two-stroke, single cylinder 125 cc engine [1] YC-1 (1956) was the second bike manufactured by Yamaha; it was a 175 cc single cylinder two-stroke. Yamaha bolted the engine to the frame, but much farther forward, arriving at the weight distribution of a typical motorcycle. Although it was a step-through design, TMAX was built around a motorcycle-type tubular steel frame instead of a U-section pressed steel monocoque frame, as was the case on most scooters.
The powertrain of the CE 04 is derived from BMW automobiles. The traction motor is a shortened version of the electric motor used in the X3 xDrive 30e and 225xe plug-in hybrid models, generating a peak of 42 hp (31 kW) (20 hp (15 kW) continuous) [ 14 ] and 46 lb⋅ft (62 N⋅m) of torque. [ 10 ]
