Chromesthesia or sound-to-color synesthesia is a type of synesthesia in which sound involuntarily evokes an experience of color, shape, and movement. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] Individuals with sound-color synesthesia are consciously aware of their synesthetic color associations/ perceptions in daily life. [ 3 ]
An auditory test is another way to test for synesthesia. A sound is turned on and one will either identify it with a taste or envision shapes. The audio test correlates with chromesthesia (sounds with colors). Since people question whether or not synesthesia is tied to memory, the "retest" is given.
