The book claims to have been revealed to Adam by the angel Raziel. Critical historians regard it as a medieval work, most probably originating among the Ashkenazi Hasidim , as citations reliant on the main body content of the work as we receive it begin to appear only in the 12th century.
God says he will deify Adam after God's (Jesus's) resurrection, and Adam will sit at the right hand of God. [1] The third section, called the Hierarchy by Robinson, includes a detailed angelology that describes all nine orders of angels and their functions. In order from lowest to highest, angels act as guardian angels, with one for each human.
A different book is the Armenian Book of Adam, [29] which closely follows the text of the Apocalypse of Moses. The content of the Armenian Penitence of Adam includes both the penances in the rivers (not found in the Greek version) and Eve's recounting of the Fall (not found in the Latin version).
God did not punish Raziel, but instead retrieved the book by means of the Rahab and returned it to Adam and Eve. [ 2 ] According to some sources, the book was passed on through the generations to Enoch (In 3 Enoch believed to have later become the angel Metatron ), who may have incorporated his own writings into the tome.
Shamsiel is said to lead 365 legions of lesser angels in the Zohar and it is said that he was assigned by God to guard the Garden of Eden after Adam and Eve were expelled; comparable to cherubim. There is apparently some disagreement in sources as to whether Shamsiel is a fallen angel; he is still regarded as the ruler of the 4th Heaven. [3]
Angels: All of the earliest sources interpret the "sons of God" as angels. From the third century BCE onwards, references are found in the Enochic literature , the Dead Sea Scrolls (the Genesis Apocryphon , the Damascus Document , 4Q180), Jubilees , the Testament of Reuben, 2 Baruch , Josephus , and the book of Jude (compare with 2 Peter 2).
