Oswald George Nelson (March 20, 1906 – June 3, 1975) [1] was an American actor, filmmaker, musician, and bandleader. He originated and starred in The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, a radio and television series with his wife Harriet and two sons David and Ricky Nelson.
Nelson launched his musical career as a teenager on The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, the television show hosted by his parents. He scored a string of pop, rock and country hit songs in the 1960s, but his career stalled in the 1970s. In 1985, Nelson was on a comeback tour. Nelson dreaded flying but refused to travel by bus.
The couple remained married until Ozzie's death from liver cancer in 1975. [11] Her grandchildren include actress Tracy Nelson and musicians Matthew and Gunnar Nelson. She was also the mother-in-law of Rick's wife Kristin Harmon and David's wife June Blair. Nelson and her husband were charter members of the Hollywood Republican Committee. [12]

He took on the role of producer and director for some of TV's popular series, most notably Adam-12, The D.A., and Bridget Loves Bernie. In 1975, Ozzie Nelson died of liver cancer at the age of 69.
