William Nolan (born 26 January 1954) is a Scottish prelate of the Catholic Church who has been Archbishop of Glasgow since February 2022. He was previously Bishop of Galloway from 2015 to 2022. Early life
Bishops Nolan, Taylor and Dougan are all former parish priests of Our Lady of Lourdes, East Kilbride who later became Bishops of Galloway. In 2016 Fr. John Farrell, retired priest of the Diocese of Motherwell, [ 6 ] the last Head teacher at St Ninian's Falkland , Fife, was sentenced to five years imprisonment.
Previously Bishop of Dunkeld (1949–1955). Appointed bishop of Motherwell on 23 May 1955. Translated to the archbishopric of Glasgow on 29 January 1964. [4] 1964 1982 Francis A. S. W. Thomson: Appointed bishop of Motherwell on 8 December 1964 and consecrated on 24 February 1965. Resigned on 14 December 1982 and died on 6 December 1987.

The principal consecrator was Archbishop Leo Cushley of Saint Andrews and Edinburgh and the principal co-consecrators were Archbishop William Nolan of Glasgow and Bishop Joseph Toal of Motherwell.
