The idea of having a homogeneous corps by amalgamating Indian Medical Services, Indian Medical Department (IMD) and Indian Hospital Corps gradually took shape and Indian Army Medical Corps (IAMC) came into being on 3 April 1943. The Combined Military Hospital Lahore is a tertiary care teaching hospital operated by the Pakistan Army. Its primary function is to provide specialized medical treatment to armed forces personnel, their dependents (immediate families), as well as the general public.
