Heath is located in southwestern Rockwall County. A small portion of the city—0.31 square miles (0.79 km 2)—extends south into Kaufman County. [8] According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 10.7 square miles (27.7 km 2), of which 10.56 square miles (27.36 km 2) are land and 0.14 square miles (0.35 km 2), or 1.27%, are water.

In January 2019, Rockwall-Heath had hired historic Texas high school football coach, Mike Spradlin. In his first season, the Hawks finished 5-5. In the 2020-2021 season, the Rockwall-Heath Varsity football team had seen a 10-4 record. Which would be ended following a 27-24 loss to Cedar Hill in the State Quarterfinals.
