Shippensburg Township is a township in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States, adjacent to the borough of Shippensburg. The population of the township was 5,429 at the 2010 census , [ 4 ] up from 4,504 at the 2000 census.
Shippensburg is located in south-central Pennsylvania primarily in Cumberland County, but extending west into Franklin County. U.S. Route 11 passes through the center of town as King Street; US 11 leads northeast 20 miles (32 km) to Carlisle, the Cumberland County seat, and southwest 11 miles (18 km) to Chambersburg, the Franklin County seat.
Shippensburg Area School District encompasses approximately 121 square miles (310 km 2). According to 2000 federal census data it serves a resident population of 23,714 people. By 2010, the District's population increased to 28,243 people. [1]
