Jetconnect Ltd. was a wholly owned subsidiary of Qantas with its head office located in Auckland, New Zealand. [1] Originally established in July 2002 as a New Zealand–based airline, the company stopped operating as an airline in 2018 but continues to employ pilots and cabin crew based at Auckland and Wellington airports.
The airline was established by Qantas in 2001 as a low-cost domestic subsidiary. Qantas had previously acquired Impulse Airlines on 20 November 2001 and operated it under the QantasLink brand, but following the decision to launch a low-cost carrier, re-launched the airline under the Jetstar brand. Kiwi Air collapsed in September 1996. Ansett New Zealand became Qantas New Zealand in September 2000 and collapsed in April 2001, leaving Origin Pacific to step in for a time. In about 2005, the check-in space was enlarged and a new international arrival area was added. The present terminal building was opened in October 2005.
The Air New Zealand check-in area is located in the centre of the terminal. There are nine gates that have jetbridges in the domestic terminal.
