The state fair has been celebrated almost every year since 1853. Currently, the fair is held annually at the Illinois State Fairgrounds over an 11-day period in mid-August of each year.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Farmersville has a total area of 0.70 square miles (1.81 km 2), all land. [2] Macoupin Creek crosses the southeast corner of the village, flowing southwest and then west to the Illinois River.
