The Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, DDCR, is a 225-square-kilometre (87 sq mi) natural reserve in the emirate of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. It was established by Emiri decree on 9 January 2002 and comprises some 5% of the Emirate of Dubai's total landmass. [1] It is home to the Al Maha Desert Resort and Spa.
The Palm Islands consist of three artificial archipelagos: Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Islands (formerly known as Palm Deira or Deira Islands), and Palm Jebel Ali, [1] on the coast of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Palm Jumeirah is an archipelago of artificial islands on the Persian Gulf in Jumeirah, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.It is part of a larger series of developments called the Palm Islands, including Palm Jebel Ali and the Dubai Islands, which, when completed, will together increase Dubai's shoreline by a total of 520 kilometres (320 mi). The Sector is part of the Dubai Non-Urban Area and contains sparsely populated communities, such as Al Awir, Lehbab, Al Meryal and Nazwah, and mostly desert and virtually uninhabited areas such as Al Wohoosh and Enkhali. For these reasons the sector is the least populated with a presence of just over 15,000 residents (2021 data).
The new development, Dubai International City, will occupy much of the community. Other landmarks in the locality include Desert Palm Dubai, Al Aweer Power Station and Warsan Lake. Warsan is bounded to the north by route E 44 (Al Awir Road) and to the west by route E 311 (Emirates Road).
The Dubai Islands currently have three hotels in operation, which represent the most significant development on the islands so far. The 800-key Hotel RIU Dubai opened on December 10, 2020, [7] followed by the 607-key Centara Mirage Beach Resort Dubai on October 14, 2021 [8] and the 159-key Park Regis by Prince Dubai Islands on March 2, 2024.
