Arkansas City (/ ˈ ɑːr k ən s ɔː /) is a town in Desha County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 376 at the 2010 census. [3] The town is the county seat of Desha County. [4] Arkansas City Commercial District, located at Desoto Avenue and Sprague Street, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The airport has the longest runway in the state of Arkansas at approximately 11,600 feet (3,500 m) in length. The airport also has very reasonable seasonal climate conditions, which makes it convenient for year-round travel. The airport can accommodate up to 50 aircraft, and has large hangar and storage areas for maintenance and repair needs.

The airport was originally named Adams Field after Captain George Geyer Adams, 154th Observation Squadron, Arkansas National Guard, who was killed in the line of duty on September 4, 1937. [4] He was a strong advocate for the airport, and also a Little Rock city councilor.
