Mar 23, 2020. We are cross shopping the GV80 vs. Hyundai Palisade vs. Kia Telluride. I know the Palisade and Telluride are a class below, but the reviews for both have been so positive that we are questioning whether we want to step up to the GV80. I need to spend some time in a GV80 to know for sure.
The Telluride is a 2020 IIHS Top Safety Pick while the Palisade is a 2020 IIHS Top Safety Pick+. I know that the GV80 doesn't share the same platform as the Palisade and Telluride, but it does show that Hyundai Motors knows how to make safe SUVs. Per a VIN document from the NHTSA there will be a new trim coming for the Palisade in the US called the Calligraphy. It should be the top of the line model with the SE, SEL and Limited trims. I'm not sure what the main different will be between the Calligraphy and Limited but I imagine it's going to have more luxurious materials and features.

Since Genesis is the luxury branch of Hyundai the GV80 is the top of the line SUV that you can get. But that being said, the news of the Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy coming to the US could give the GV80 a run for its money. As for the Telluride, that's more of the rugged option between the 3 top SUVs for each brand. Hyundai: Venue ($17,350)

Which puts it in line with the likes of the VW Atlas, the Hyundai Palisade and the Kia Telluride. Unfortunately I haven't seen any specific numbers about the GV80's rear legroom. For the sake of comparison, the Atlas has 37.6 inches of rear leg room while the Palisade and Telluride both have 42.4 inches of rear leg room, according to Edmunds.
