Odyssey Academy is a public charter school with 3 locations across the Galveston/Bay Area. Since our founding in 1998, we have grown from a middle school on Galveston Island to a multi-location district serving approximately 1,200 students in grades pre-kindergarten through high school.

HISTORY OF ODYSSEY ACADEMY. 1998: Founded by Robert A. (Bob) Mosbacher, Sr., founder of Mosbacher Energy Co. and U.S. Secretary of Commerce for President George H.W. Bush; chartered by State Board of Education as a third-generation charter school.
For the 2024-2025 school year, Odyssey Academy (OA) will be moving their El Lago campus to its new facility at the former Edgar A. Smith Family YMCA located at 14650 Old Galveston Road. Construction will begin soon in order to prepare the facility to begin educating students in August of 2024.
