The following is a list of Canada's largest enclosed shopping malls, by reported total retail floor space, or gross leasable area (GLA) with 750,000 square feet (70,000 m 2) and over. In cases where malls have equal areas, they are further ranked by the number of stores.
The mall opened on August 18, 1955 as Westmount Shoppers' Park and was considered Edmonton's first shopping mall. [3] [4] Built at a cost of $5 million, the mall was anchored by Woodward's, Johnstone Walker, and Kresge.
The following year, the New South China Mall in Dongguan opened and took the title, with an area of over 7,000,000 square feet (650,000 m 2). Triple Five has disputed whether these developments are actually shopping malls, and continues to claim that West Edmonton Mall is the world's largest.
Premium Outlet Collection EIA is a 39,800 m 2 (428,000 sq ft) fully-enclosed outlet shopping mall [1] in Leduc County just east of Edmonton International Airport. It opened on May 2, 2018, after being delayed from fall 2017. [2] [3] It was developed by Ivanhoé Cambridge and Simon Property Group.
The Common is located in south Edmonton, Alberta, extending from 23rd Avenue south to Anthony Henday Drive, and east from Gateway Boulevard to Parsons Road. The Common has a large base of retail tenants that provide various goods and services. The first tenant in the Commons was The Home Depot, which opened in April 1998. [3]
The neighbourhood is named for Colonel F.C. Jamieson (1875–1966), Edmonton lawyer, colonel in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during WWI and Alberta Conservative MLA 1931–1935. The neighbourhood is bounded on the west by Anthony Henday Drive , on the north by Callingwood Road, on the east by 184 Street, and on the south be Lessard Road.
