MTV2 was a Canadian English language discretionary specialty channel focused on lifestyle and general entertainment programming aimed at youth and teen audiences. The channel was owned by Bell Media subsidiary of BCE, Inc. , with the MTV2 name and branding used under an agreement with the Paramount Networks Americas division of Paramount Global .
It was launched July 2006 and discontinued after the channel's rebrand as MTV2. Similar Canadian programming blocks include YTV 's Bionix and G4 's Anime Current . Shows
MTV2 (the former iteration of MTV Canada under Craig) ceased operations on March 29, 2024. In an October 31, 2024 report by The Globe and Mail, a Bell Media spokesperson stated that MTV Canada would be shut down on December 31, 2024, with the company citing "changing audiences" as reasoning, and directing viewers to CTV.ca and Crave.
