The boys' cross country team won state championships in 1973, 1974, and 1975; the girls' cross country team, in 1993, 1994, and 2000. The boys' track team won state championships in 1976 and 2008. The wrestling team won a state championship in 1990, and a dual state championship in 2016. [ 4 ]
Millard North partially opened in 1978 for 9th and 10th grade students. In 1981, the second phase of the project was completed and the school began to serve students in grades 9-12; at that time, the school's name was changed to Millard North High School. The school completed an expansion in 2007.
In 1985, Westside Senior Bridget Mergens was denied the ability to create an after-school Christian Bible club. The principal at the time rejected the idea since he said a religious club violated the First Amendment's Establishment Clause. In addition, the club lacked a school sponsor that was required when forming a club.
Ainsworth takes in students from Ainsworth Middle School and McAndrew Elementary School. The high school offers membership in various clubs, such as FBLA, FFA, FCCLA, Speech, Thespians, Mock Trial, Choir, Band, A-Club, Student Council, Yearbook, Cheerleaders, Pom Squad, Art Club, Bulldog Beat, DI, Drama and Spanish Club.
