Affton is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in south St. Louis County, Missouri, United States, near St. Louis. The population was 20,417 at the 2020 United States Census .
A post office at Elkton was established in 1845, and remained in operation until 1955. The post office was a Flag Stop during the Butterfield Overland Mail period 1858-1861. [2] Yoast Station was just 2.2mi south of the post office and was a horse change-over for the Butterfield Stagecoach. [3]
Otterville is located on routes A and BB three-quarters of a mile north of the county line and U.S. Route 50.The community is on the Long Branch tributary to the Lamine River and the Lamine River Conservation Area which is one mile east of the town.

Elkton was platted on January 25, 1887, by W.E. Richardson and Frank A. Day. It was incorporated on January 2, 1906. The first high school graduation was held in 1934. The original section of the now old Affton High School was completed in 1936. This building, located across the street from the current Affton High School, was used as the Sanders Work Activity Center, but has since been torn down and is now a senior-living facility.
