"Suffer the Little Children" was first published in the magazine Cavalier in February 1972. [citation needed] It was originally planned to be published in King's first collection of short stories, Night Shift, in 1978, but editor Bill Thompson opted to cut it for length (King had wanted to cut "Gray Matter", but deferred to Thompson's choice). Mary Frances Thérèse Raftery (21 December 1957 – 10 January 2012) was an Irish investigative journalist, filmmaker and writer.. Raftery was born in Dublin. [1] She started her investigative journalism career with In Dublin magazine in the 1970s, before moving on to Magill Magazine and then to Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) in 1984.
