The first associate degrees were awarded in the UK (where they are no longer awarded) in 1873 before spreading to the US in 1898. In the United States, the associate degree may allow transfer into the third year of a bachelor's degree. [1] Associate degrees have since been introduced in a small number of other countries.
In 1991, the computer science and engineering (CSE) discipline of Khulna University started its academic activities with 20 undergraduate students in Bachelor of Science in computer science and engineering. This discipline was the second of its kind to offer computer science/engineering education in Bangladesh after BUET. [15]

After a short time, the College of Engineering was renamed as Dhaka Engineering College (DEC). Then DEC shifted to its present permanent campus Gazipur City in 1983. [6] [7] BIT, Dhaka (1986) DEC was converted into the Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT), Dhaka as a degree awarding Institute by the government ordinance in 1986.
The Ford Foundation, Oklahoma State University, and the government of East Pakistan started the college in 1961 with just twenty-five students. This is the first college of Bangladesh for studying home economics. Mrs. Hamida Khanam was the founder principal of this college. [2]
These colleges under its academic control cater for courses leading to Pass, Honours and master's degrees. The university exercises academic control over the colleges according to the National University Act 1992 mandated by the National Parliament of Bangladesh and the statutes of the university.
ASA University Bangladesh has a large and spacious library which is on the second floor. The ASAUB library can accommodate more than 200 students at a time. The library has a sufficient numbers of books, newspapers, journals, etc. Faculty members of ASAUB get special opportunities for continuing their research and study in the library.
