BNS Joyjatra is a Type 035G (Ming class) diesel electric submarine of the Bangladesh Navy. She is one of the first two submarines of the Bangladesh Navy. Description
The boats are being built by Dockyard and Engineering Works Limited under licence from PT Lundin Indonesia. 8 of 18 vessels are commissioned with Bangladesh Navy. These 11.7 meters long boats are armed with a 12.7 mm machine gun mount on cabin top and two additional gun mounts on the after deck.
The boats underwent refit in China and delivery was made on 14 November 2016. They are the Bangladesh Navy's first submarines. The names and pennant numbers of the submarines are BNS Nabajatra (S 161) and BNS Joyjatra (S 162) respectively. [6] They were commissioned on 12 March 2017. [7]

BNS Somudra Joy was sent to Maldives on 9 December 2014, [8] to aid in the water crisis that took place in capital Malé on 8 December 2014. She carried 100 tonnes of drinking water and five desalination plants there. [9] On 23 April 2015, she left for Qatar to join the multinational maritime exercise, Exercise Ferocious Falcon-2015. [10]
