The Ives-Baldwin House is a historic house at 474 Baldwin Avenue in Meriden, Connecticut. Built about 1798, it is a well-preserved example of a late 18th-century farmhouse, a rare property type in the now largely industrial town. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. [1]
In 1838, the railroad line was run nearer West Meriden (after a protracted battle between competing municipal interests), kicking off a commercial development boom there. The Curtis Cultural Center is located in the historic civic center of Meriden, set on a knoll at the southeast corner of East Main and Pleasant Streets. It is a two-story masonry structure, built out of white Vermont marble. It presents as a single-story structure, with the second floor only evident due to a high parapet above the main cornice.
