Originally referred to as Frant Wells, they were later renamed Queen Mary’s Wells, in honour of Queen Mary II and were only later given the present name of Tunbridge Wells. [3] The Upper and Lower Walks were created in 1638, when an existing bank of earth stretching south-west from the wells was levelled and planted with a double row of trees.
A halt served by the local railway was established in 1907, and was used until 1952. The Spa Valley Railway, a heritage railway, now connects the High Rocks pub beyond the High Rocks turnstiles to Tunbridge Wells, Groombridge and Eridge (on the London-Uckfield line of Southern Railway).
In 1887, to accommodate the village expanding, a chapel of ease affiliated to St Paul's Church was built in the middle of Rusthall. This Mission church later became known as St Paul's Church Centre and is used as the parish hall of St Paul's Church as well as for hosting services, which up until the 1970s were conducted by a lay reader . Langton Green is a village in the borough of Tunbridge Wells, England, lying around two miles west of the town centre along the A264.It is located within the parish of Speldhurst although it has its own church on the village green—the Grade II*-listed All Saints, built in 1862–63 by George Gilbert Scott.
