Welcome to The Colonial Dames of America. Celebrating its 130th anniversary in 2020, the Society was established to commemorate the history of the thirteen American colonies and the men and women who founded them.
Membership to The Colonial Dames of America (CDA) is by invitation only. Current members must propose prospective members to their chapter in order for the prospective members to be considered for membership.
CDA TODAY. Mission Statement: CDA honors American History through preservation and education. Vision Statement: CDA strives to be a relevant international resource which promotes the study of American history and the best practices of historic preservation. Membership in the Colonial Dames is by invitation only.
CDA CHAPTERS. CDA chapters except the Parent is governed by its own elected officers and reports to the Society’s Board of Managers. The chapters invite new members, plan chapter meetings and events, and direct their own projects.

The Colonial Dames of America recognizes non-fiction books of merit that focus on American life—past, present, or future—by presenting an annual award. The book may be focused on history, biography, economics, politics, ecology, education, or the arts.
Each year, The Colonial Dames of America through its Education and Scholarship Committee awards grants to several institutions for student fellowships, history education initiatives, archaeological studies, and historic preservation projects.
