The Whispering Vault is a horror-themed role-playing game originally published in 1993. Players take on the role of "Stalkers", persons who have risen above their own mortality to act as servants of the guardians of Reality, tracking down and apprehending rogue gods who have invaded Reality and returning them to the realm of the Unseen where they are cast into The Whispering Vault.
In 1999, IGN's RPG Vault gave it the award for a Developer of the Year. [3] The company was closed in late 2003 due to Interplay's financial troubles. [4] Interplay briefly revived the Black Isle name in August 2012 with the intention of producing new role-playing games under that label.

Divine Divinity was a nominee for PC Gamer US ' s "2002 Best Roleplaying Game", GameSpy's "PC RPG Game of the Year", RPG Vault's "RPG of the Year" and GameSpot's "Best Role-Playing Game on PC" awards, but lost these prizes to Neverwinter Nights and The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.
