Thomas Cruise Mapother IV (born July 3, 1962) is an American actor and producer. Regarded as a Hollywood icon, [1] [2] [3] he has received various accolades, including an Honorary Palme d'Or and three Golden Globe Awards, in addition to nominations for four Academy Awards.
Mapother was born in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of Louisa (née Riehm) and William Reibert Mapother Sr. [2] His father was an attorney and served as a judge in Louisville between 1967 and 1970. Mapother Jr. is a first cousin of actor Tom Cruise, whose full name is Thomas Cruise Mapother IV.
