ECWA Theological Seminary, Igbaja started as a School of Prophets in 1918. It was finally established a theological seminary on 12 February 1941, with eighteen students. The seminary trains men and women in biblical interpretation, with the goal of equipping them to become preachers. It is located in Kwara State of Nigeria a Yoruba dominated area.
ECWA started three Theological Seminaries: ECWA Theological Seminary, Igbaja that started as a School of Prophets in 1918, ECWA Theological Seminary, Kagoro which was established in 1931, and Jos ECWA Theological Seminary in 1980. There are also eight Bible colleges and fifteen theological training institutes. [4]
Igbaja is a community in Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, Nigeria, at an elevation of 349 m. It is about 40 km southeast of Ilorin , and is in Igbomina country. The Ilorin Provincial Gazetteer (1918) dates the settlement of Igbaja as late 17th or early 18th century, while the Igbaja District Gazetteer (1933–35) puts it about 1750 AD.

It was founded at Union Theological Seminary in 1843, and moved to Andover Theological Seminary (now Andover Newton Theological School) in 1844 after publishing three issues, to Oberlin College in 1884, and to Xenia Seminary in 1922. Dallas Theological Seminary (then the Evangelical Theological College) took over publication in 1934.
There was missionary activity in Egbe so many years ago particularly through Rev. Tommy Titcombe and his wife (a British-born Canadian Missionary), on behalf of the Serving In Mission (SIM) from the United States, Canada, and the UK, who served in Egbe and Yagba land from 1908 for more than a decade, this has left a positive impact on the people of Egbe, Yagba and Nigeria at large.
