Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner (Icelandic: Jón; born 29 August 1967 in Seltjarnarnes) is an Icelandic-Norwegian programmer and businessman. He is the co-founder and CEO of Vivaldi Technologies. Before starting the Vivaldi Web browser, he launched a community site called Vivaldi.net. Tetzchner is also a co-founder and former CEO of Opera Software.
Headquartered in Oslo, Norway, [1] it was founded in 2013 by Jon von Tetzchner and Tatsuki Tomita. Tetzchner was one of the founders, [2] and formerly the CEO, of Opera Software, a software company which developed the web browser Opera. [3] About 20 former Opera employees joined him at Vivaldi Technologies. [3]
Opera Software was founded as an independent company in Norway in 1995 by the Icelandic Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner and Geir Ivarsøy. [9] They had initially begun development of the Opera web browser while both working at Norwegian telecommunications company Telenor.
