Mercury-Atlas 6 (MA-6) was the first crewed American orbital spaceflight, which took place on February 20, 1962. [4] Piloted by astronaut John Glenn and operated by NASA as part of Project Mercury, it was the fifth human spaceflight, preceded by Soviet orbital flights Vostok 1 and 2 and American sub-orbital flights Mercury-Redstone 3 and 4.
John Glenn (July 10, 1929 – June 4, 2023) was an American Major League Baseball outfielder. A veteran of 15 minor league seasons, he appeared in 32 games for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1960. He was born in Moultrie, Georgia. Glenn died in Delran Township, New Jersey on June 4, 2023. He was 93. [1]

John W. Glenn (January 1850 – November 10, 1888) was an American Major League Baseball player for four teams during his seven-year career. [ 1 ] On November 10, 1888, Glenn died from injuries sustained from being accidentally shot the week prior by a police officer in Sandy Hill, New York .
