Thomas Farmer (sometimes spelled Farmar) was the first mayor of New Brunswick, appointed under the royal charter granted December 30, 1730 by Colonel John Montgomerie, the colonial governor of New York and New Jersey. Farmer served for more than 16 years, until mid-1747.
