Ellwood City is a borough primarily in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, United States. With a small district extending into Beaver County, it lies along the Connoquenessing Creek just east of its confluence with the Beaver River. The population was 7,642 at the 2020 census. [6]

Ellport is a borough in southern Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,081 at the 2020 census. [5] It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The name is a portmanteau of Ellwood City and Portersville, the boroughs that lie to its west and east.
The township was linked to New Castle, Ellwood City and Pittsburgh in 1908 by the Pittsburgh, Harmony, Butler and New Castle Railway, an interurban trolley line. The line closed on June 15, 1931, and the trolleys were replaced by buses.
The Ellwood City Area Civic Chorale formed in 1954 with former students of the Ellwood City Lincoln High School choir who wanted to continue to sing together (one is still an emeritus member.).
It serves the boroughs of Ellwood City, Ellport, and New Beaver, and the townships of Wayne, and Perry Townships. Elwood City Area School District encompasses approximately 49 square miles (130 km 2). According to 2000 federal census data, it served a resident population of 14,040. In 2010 the district's population risen to 14,341 people. [1]

The original Northwood Glass Company was established by Harry Northwood in 1887 in Martins Ferry, Ohio. However, the company was later relocated to Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, where it failed to thrive. [3] In 1895 he opened up the New Northwood glass company in a factory previously owned by the Indiana Glass company in Indiana, Pennsylvania.
