The DuQuoin State Fair was founded in 1923 by local businessman William R. "W.R." Hayes, who owned the fair and ran it. (It did not become run by the state of Illinois as a true "state fair" until the 1980s; it is now officially called the Illinois State Fair in DuQuoin, as opposed to the longtime one at state capital Springfield.)
The Du Quoin State Fairgrounds are located in the city of Du Quoin in Perry County, Illinois, United States. The fairgrounds are located along U.S. Route 51 north of Illinois Route 14 . The facilities include the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds Racetrack , an oval track that has hosted AAA, USAC and ARCA races since 1948.

Amtrak Train 390, the northbound Saluki, is scheduled to depart Du Quoin at 7:51 am daily with service to Centralia, Effingham, Mattoon, Champaign-Urbana, Rantoul, Gilman, Kankakee, Homewood, and Chicago. Amtrak Train 392, the northbound Illini, is scheduled to depart Du Quoin at 4:36 pm daily serving the same points as the northbound Saluki.
The first 100-mile stock car race at the track was held in 1950. It has been a part of a national stock car circuit annually since 1954. AAA sanctioned the race until 1955, USAC from 1956 to 1984, and ARCA took over solely in 1985 after co-sanctioning the race in 1983 and 1984.
Old Du Quoin is an unincorporated community in Perry County, Illinois, United States. The community is located along Illinois Route 14 3.8 miles (6.1 km) southeast of downtown Du Quoin . [ 2 ] The community was the original site of Du Quoin before its residents relocated to a site next to a new railroad line in the 1850s.
Kelly was born on July 20, 1970, in Washington, D.C., and attended St. John's College High School, where he is today a member of the board of trustees. [4] He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wake Forest University to earn his bachelors degree in politics in 1992, and earned his master's in sports administration from St. Thomas University in Miami in 1994.
