The A-Team was created by writers and producers Stephen J. Cannell and Frank Lupo at the behest of Brandon Tartikoff, NBC Entertainment's president.Cannell was fired from ABC in the early 1980s, after failing to produce a hit show for the network, and was hired by NBC; his first project was The A-Team.
The A-Team began airing on NBC on January 23, 1983, with the pilot episode, "Mexican Slayride", and ended on March 8, 1987, with "Without Reservations". The show comprises 98 episodes over five seasons.
The team is subsequently broken up sent to different prisons. When the team reclaims the plates and kidnaps Pike's backer who is simply described as an Arab, they learn that he is actually General Morrison, who worked with Lynch and Pike to steal the plates, but then teamed up with Pike to double-cross Lynch and fake his death.
The A-Team are called to Las Vegas by two college girls to search for their missing professor Bruce Warfel who developed the perfect gambling system. The team rescue him from Gianni Christian, a high-ranking mobster, whose thugs couldn't understand the professor's explanations as to how his method works (though Murdock understands easily).
Hotly pursued by Decker, the team seek medical help for B.A. in the hospital of a fishing town. While there they meet a family who tell them of a man extorting the fishermen of the town and causing depletion of the lobster beds. The team decide to help the town out, but need to go to great lengths to avoid the clutches of Decker.
