All Saints Catholic College was formed as a Comprehensive school in 1973 with the merger of St. Gregory's RC Grammar school and St. Augustine's RC Secondary Modern school, which had previously existed on the same site. In 2006, it achieved specialist Humanities College status.
Previously a voluntary aided school administered by Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council, All Saints Catholic College converted to academy status on 1 June 2013. The school is part of the St. Anselm's Multi Academy Trust (MAT), administered by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Shrewsbury , and made up of the local Primary Schools in the area.
A National School of Industry, founded in Blackheath Vale in 1825, was taken over by the All Saints' parish in 1867, becoming All Saints' Girls School. This moved to a new site in Blackheath Vale in 1878, and in 1939 became an infants and junior mixed school, All Saints' C of E Primary School.
In 2016, it was announced that St Peter's Campus, Maitland principal Michael Blake had secured the position of principal at Champagnat College, Pagewood and concluded his role at St Peter's at the end of Term 2. All Saints College is going to convert the school to one campus being St Peters. St Mary’s will then be converted into a university.
St Gregory's School on Bewley Drive in Southdene, Kirkby merged with St Kevin's School Northwood to form All Saints Catholic High School. St Gregory's School was the first girls' catholic comprehensive school in England, in Southdene. St Kevin's RC School had over 2000 boys, and was the largest comprehensive school in England. [1]
