  2. AMT model kit catalog - 1976 | The Trek BBS

    www.trekbbs.com/threads/amt-model-kit-catalog-1976.218875

The 1976 AMT model kit catalog is a mini joy, as it--on the 10th anniversary of TOS--illustrates how popular TOS was as a TV series and merchandising property. Obviously, the catalog features more than ST kits, so i'm only posting the ST-centric pages. Note the use of "war bird" for the BOP--I wonder if this is 1st time the name was used in ST ...

The bridge and the warp nacelles are different and the surface is not smooth. The level of detail is much higher and the model is twice the size of the TOS model. The model was painted in several gray to green colors. It does have the grilles to either side that had previously only appeared on the AMT kits. The TMP model was revamped for ST:VI.

  8. Changes To The Observation Lounge.... - The Trek BBS

    www.trekbbs.com/threads/changes-to-the-observation-lounge...

The new wall section seen in STVI is what replaces the "ships of the line" display from S5 onwards. There's also a difference between the obs lounge in Season 1 and the one seen from Season 2 onwards. IIRC, in S1 it was a modified section of the sickbay set, whereas S2 saw them build a dedicated set for the obs lounge that was used for the rest ...

  9. USS Enterprise Model -- AMT | The Trek BBS

    www.trekbbs.com/threads/uss-enterprise-model-amt.78410

AMT took his 3-view drawing and did their own tooling based on them. Although, Roddenberry and Jefferies did approve a mockup, it's possible that some more changes occured before kit production began. However, AMT did build the Klingon filming model directly from Jefferies drawings, and they scaled it down a bit for the commercial kit version.

  10. TOS props- close up! | The Trek BBS

    www.trekbbs.com/threads/tos-props-close-up.298815

I've never seen AMT nacelles droop like that! I wonder if they broke the U-shaped tabs that held the pylons in place in those early kits and just glued them in minus that support, and glue not being 100% rigid has allowed gravity to do that.

  11. Matt Jefferies and NCC-1017 | The Trek BBS

    www.trekbbs.com/threads/matt-jefferies-and-ncc-1017.176311

In short, we have production drawings of the Enterprise from the mid-1960’s that are labeled with the registry system Matt Jefferies imagined for the starship class: they’d be in the NCC-17xx range. But the Constellation has a NCC-1017 registry number, anecdotally because Jefferies built the model and flipped the “1701” around to make ...
