Located in Vernon County, Westby is close to the western border of Wisconsin. The city is also about 30 miles from La Crosse, where former president Donald Trump hosted a campaign town hall last week.
In 2017, there were 434 births, giving a general fertility rate of 90.5 births per 1000 women aged 15–44, the fourth highest rate out of all 72 Wisconsin counties. Of these births, 123 occurred at home, second only to Clark County which had 184 home births.
On June 22, 1851, Rev. C. L. Clausen arrived at the settlement which would eventually become the city of Westby, Wisconsin and held services in a local barn.
