The Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway or Samruddhi Mahamarg (officially known as Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg) and Maharashtra Expressway-2 (ME-2), is a partially opened 6-lane wide (expandable to 8), 701-km long access-controlled expressway in Maharashtra, India.
The Jalna-Nanded Expressway will travel through Jalna, Parbhani, and Nanded districts directly. The 179-kilometre Jalna-Nanded segment passes through 87 villages. Around 93.52 kilometres of this segment passes through four tehsils in Parbhani, while 66.46 kilometres passes through three tehsils of Jalna and 19.82 kilometres passes through one tehsil in Nanded.
State expressways are funded by the Government of Maharashtra and Government of India to connect areas within the state. These expressways reduce travel time, allowing for more efficient travel and fuel savings.
Route description [ edit ] The proposed Mumbai-Nagpur High-Speed Rail Corridor is planned to run along the Mumbai–Nagpur Expressway (Samruddhi Mahamarg), national highways, greenfield areas, and may pass through arterial roads of the intermediate city road network for high-speed rail connectivity between different cities along the corridor.
Connectivity: Once operational, the expressway will become a direct route from Central India to Goa, by allowing faster, better and safer commute by avoiding congested routes, such as via Mumbai and Pune at present.
