Robin Hood is a blend of role-playing and turn-based strategy combined with action sequences. As Robin Hood, the player must: Fund the war effort by lightening the purses of traveling merchants in archery ambushes. Lay siege to castles using mighty siege engines and Greek Fire. Joust in tournaments for fame, fortune and land.
The game opens with Robin Hood and his friends Will Scarlet and Much the Miller's Son locked inside Nottingham Castle. Meanwhile, The Prophecies of Gildas have prophecised that a Hooded Man will come to Sherwood Forest and do the bidding of Herne the Hunter , Lord of the Trees.
Reviewer Gary Whitta gave the PC version 820 out of a possible 1000 points, praising the graphics, controls and sense of involvement. [2]The One gave the Amiga version of Robin Hood an overall score of 80%, calling it "atmospheric" and stating that the changing of seasons in-game gives "a sense of urgency", further noting how NPCs "lead independent lives" outside of the player's involvement.
Once Robin joins the camp in Sherwood, it becomes Robin Hood's home base for the remainder of the game. He continually leaves camp to undertake various missions. Upon completing each mission, Robin must return to camp to find out what mission to undertake next. Eventually, Robin Hood takes his last mission to get rid of the Sheriff of Nottingham.
