"The ABC Song" was first copyrighted in 1835 by Boston music publisher Charles Bradlee. The melody is from a 1761 French music book and is also used in other nursery rhymes like "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star", while the author of the lyrics is unknown. Songs set to the same melody are also used to teach the alphabets of other languages.
Also, the color of the alphabet letters varies between the two editions. In addition, a Songbook titled "Sharon, Lois & Bram Sing A to Z" was published. Illustrated by Kim LaFave , it is full of colorful sketches as well as words and music to many of the songs heard on the album.

Here Come the ABCs is the second children's album and eleventh studio album by alternative rock band They Might Be Giants, aimed at young children learning the alphabet.
