Saphan Taksin station (Thai: สถานีสะพานตากสิน) is a BTS skytrain station, on the Silom Line in Sathon and Bang Rak Districts, Bangkok, Thailand. The station is located at the entry ramp of Taksin Bridge , below Sathon Road , to the east of the Chao Phraya River .
1) Mo Chit station to Saphan Mai: 11.4 km, 12 stations (N9–N20). 2) Saphan Mai to Khu Khot: 7.5 km, four stations (N21-N24). An 11.4 km, 12 station northern extension from Mo Chit station to Saphan Mai in Don Mueang District has been planned since the Sukhumvit Line opened. Originally, this extension was scheduled to be completed by 2008.
When it opened, the line ran from National Stadium to Saphan Taksin stations covering a total distance of 6.5 km (4.0 mi) with 7 stations. Sukhumvit Line is one of the main arteries of the Bangkok Mass Rapid Transit System with 900,000 daily passengers per day (combined with the Sukhumvit Line ).
Sathorn Pier is located adjacent to the Saphan Taksin Station, making this location the only place for commuters to transfer between the Chao Phraya Express Boat service and the Bangkok BTS Skytrain Silom Line rail service. The pier is adjacent to the Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok.
The disused foundations were eventually adapted for the BTS Skytrain, [1] with train services across the bridge beginning on 5 December 1999.
