In 2002, Elton John and Billy Joel continued on their success Face to Face concert series. [1] [2] The tour started in the winter of 2002 and continued until the fall of the same year. The concerts scheduled for 11 March through 6 April were cancelled and then postponed until the fall of the same year due to Joel's ill health. [3] [4] [5]

The concerts took the same form as the previous year where John and Joel with their bands would perform a few songs together, then John would take to the stage with his band without Joel. Joel would then do his own set followed by a reunion on stage with John before leaving stage. They would return for a few songs for an encore. [7] [8]
