Shelby County is a county located in the northeastern portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2020 census , the population was 6,103. [ 1 ] Its county seat is Shelbyville . [ 2 ]
The city is in central Shelby County at the intersection of Missouri routes 15 and 168. Black Creek flows past the west and south sides of the city. [9]According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.82 square miles (2.12 km 2), of which, 0.78 square miles (2.02 km 2) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km 2) is water.
The average population of Missouri's counties is 53,880; St. Louis County is the most populous (987,059), and Worth County is the least (1,907). The average land area is 599 sq mi (1,550 km 2 ). The largest county is Texas County (1,179 sq mi, 3,054 km 2 ) and the smallest is St. Louis city (61.9 sq mi, 160 km 2 ).
Shelbina is located in south central Shelby County at the intersection of US Route 36 and Missouri Route 15. It is two miles north of the Shelby-Monroe county line. Shelbyville is seven miles to the north along Route 15. The headwaters of Clear Creek arise just to the west of the city. [9]
