Takehiko Inoue (井上 雄彦, Inoue Takehiko, born 12 January 1967) is a Japanese manga artist.He is best known for the basketball series Slam Dunk (1990–1996), and the jidaigeki manga Vagabond, which are two of the best-selling manga series in history.
Manga author Takehiko Inoue started Vagabond, having wondered what the character of Musashi Miyamoto was like when he read Musashi. Having come off of drawing a sports manga , Slam Dunk , he wanted to create a series about more basic concepts, such as "life and death, the human condition, etc."
His two favorite manga are Fist of the North Star and Kinnikuman, and confessed he was emotioned when reading Takehiko Inoue's Slam Dunk. This eventually lead him to read Inoue's next work, Vagabond.
