Burning up Coil pack. Hello, everyone been having a problem with the coil pack.2014 Cruze 1.4T. Cylinder 1 keeps missing. Have swapped out two packs already and replace the spark plugs. First time it happens I chalked it to normal wear and tear. 85k miles in car.
Remove the coil pack. If the boots are stuck on, use a small screwdriver or pick with some dielectric grease on it to go around the outside of the boot and then possibly the inside of the boot to help aid in removal. Remember to (p)re-gap your plugs to .028, Set gap with the black portion of this tool.
Examine the mating side of the connector to be sure the contacts make a good connection with the coil pack. Trace the wiring harness back to be sure it's not rubbing against anything which may have damaged it. Trace it back to the computer. With that many coil packs, I'm pretty sure it's upstream of there.
Blown fuse for the injectors and coil. Coil pack was causing the fuse to blow. Pulled coil pack off. Found that the coil at #1 on the end was blown out big time. Looked at the OE coil More closely . Looked to have a small burn out on #1 also. The springs are all the same length. No corrosion on coil connector or at the computer.
Measure the resistance of the spring from one end, to the end of the resistor pellet (looks like a tiny fuse or capsule usually). You should have somewhere between 800-1200ohms resistance. If you just have a plain spring, or if the resistance is below 800 or so, that's why you're blowing out coils.

The only thing I can think of is excessive plug gap. That raises the voltage the coil has to generate and puts more stress on it's internal insulation. I don't know what signals are fed it the coil pack - I suppose it's possible that something is wrong and it's stressing it. My gap is at .033 if I remember correctly.
A properly layered wound coil of the correct AWG with vacuum impregnated varnish would never burn up. Using under sized wire random wound is when problems started to occur. With a misfiring spark plug, first thing to take a beating is a zener diode that protects the gated bipolar transistor.
I am having issues with a misfire on my 2014 Cruze LS 1.8L gas manual 6 speed transmission (United States). The following codes show up P0301, P0351, and P2301. These codes as a quick reference say about a cylinder 1 misfire, ignition coil A primary/secondary circuit, and ignition coil A primary control circuit high, respectively.
Chevy cruze 2012 coil pack issue! Hi everyone I'm new to the forum, I wanted to get some guidance on how to prevent my coil pack springs from bending left or right when I sit the boots down back onto the spark plugs. My 1st cylinder spring alway bends and it's causing a nasty misfire/blow out.
