Palazzo Venier dei Leoni. The palazzo was designed in 1749 by architect Lorenzo Boschetti (author of the facade of the church San Barnaba) for the Venier family. [1] The project envisioned a building that would combine the styles of Palladio and Longhena, two architects who left a significant legacy in Venice.
The collection is housed in the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, which Peggy Guggenheim purchased in 1949. [1] Although sometimes mistaken for a modern building, [10] it is an 18th-century palace designed by the Venetian architect Lorenzo Boschetti . [11] The building was unfinished, and has an unusually low elevation on the Grand Canal.
