Argentina determines whether to change clocks in observation of daylight saving time on a year-by-year basis, and individual provinces may opt out of the federal decision.
On 5 August 2020, an initiative arose to keep the daylight saving time as the official year-round time, [3] with the intention to align Paraguay with neighbors Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. Legislative efforts to achieve this continued unsuccessfully until a law was passed by the Congress of Paraguay in September 2024.
