Beaty Crossroads is a former unincorporated community on Sand Mountain in northern DeKalb County, Alabama, United States. [1] It is located within the town limits of Ider at the intersection of Alabama Highway 75 and Alabama Highway 117.
Ider is located at (34.703941, -85.673983 The town is situated atop Sand Mountain, a few miles west of the Alabama-Georgia state line. Alabama State Route 75 and Alabama State Route 117 intersect in Ider.
The following is a list of people executed by the U.S. state of Alabama since capital punishment was resumed in the United States in 1976. All of the 78 people (77 men and 1 woman) have been executed at the Holman Correctional Facility, near Atmore, Alabama. All executions between December 2002 and 2023 were conducted by lethal injection.
Alabama State Route 40 passes through the original center of town, leading east 8 miles (13 km) to Interstate 59 in Hammondville and west 19 miles (31 km) to Scottsboro. Alabama State Route 75 crosses AL 40 in the newer commercial part of Henagar and leads northeast 8 miles (13 km) to Ider and southwest 10 miles (16 km) to Rainsville.

As of December 2023, Plainview High School will be classified as a 4A school for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years. The current Principal is Chris Clark. Cornerstone Christian Academy is located in Rainsville.
